Hoffenheim v Tottenham: Bayern Munich deal done before Europa League clash
Tottenham Hotspur will attract attention from Bayern Munich for their contest at Hoffenheim on Thursday due to the presence of Tom Bischof, according to The Sun.
On page 47 of Wednesday’s print edition (22 January), it was suggested Bischof will have an excellent platform on which to demonstrate his abilities (23 January) in front of Bayern, who have agreed to sign the youngster on a free transfer this summer.
Bischof, 19, has been described as “highly-rated” by the news outlet, having made over 50 appearances for Hoffenheim’s senior team since the age of 16, with Spurs an exciting challenge for the German side.
The Sun reported: “Highly-rated teen Tom Bischof will [Thursday] get a chance to show why Bayern Munich signed him – when he faces Tottenham.
“The German midfielder, 19, joins the Bundesliga leaders on a free in the summer from Hoffenheim, who face Spurs in the Europa League.”
Tottenham must secure European passage
While Tottenham’s Premier League form is nosediving, Ange Postecoglou’s side are at least still fighting on all remaining fronts this season.
Spurs have two remaining league phase fixtures in the Europa League, with the trip to Hoffenheim followed up by next week’s hosting of Elfsborg (30 January).
On paper, it should be light work for Tottenham – but they have also shown in recent weeks that no opponent appears an easy task, given the horrendous league form and the hard graft they made of the FA Cup third round tie at Tamworth (12 January).
With three wins and two draws from six, Spurs sit ninth from 36 clubs in the Europa League table on 11 points – level with Rangers and one point behind Manchester United.

The top eight will automatically qualify for the round of 16, while those from ninth to 24th will be pitted together in a play-off round to reach the full knockouts.
Postecoglou could really do with a seamless qualification into the top eight to avoid further wrath from the supporters in N17.
