Harry Kane transfer from Tottenham to Bayern Munich entering ‘crucial days now’ – Florian Plettenberg

Harry Kane’s move from Tottenham to Bayern Munich is entering “crucial days”, according to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Plettenberg posted on Twitter to say the Bundesliga champions are not fearful of a rival bid from Paris Saint-Germain and that the club want to hold further talks with Daniel Levy.

It was previously reported by the Guardian (5 July) that superstar striker Kane, 29, has been offered new terms by Spurs but the England captain is reluctant to sign.

Plettenberg’s update read: “It’s only about #Kane & FC Bayern! Bayern bosses fear no danger about the interest from #PSG.

“CEO Dreesen and Technical Director Neppe have stayed in Munich.

“Strategy for further negotiations is clear: Bayern wants to meet Tottenham/#Levy with total respect; quietly. In the best case in a personal meeting.

“Crucial days now.”

It might not be what you want to do Daniel but…

Something that once upon a time seemed hugely improbable, beyond the realms of possibility even, is now looking like an increasing inevitability at Tottenham.

And that is the fact that Harry Kane may no longer don the famous white of Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs’ record goalscorer, England’s record goalscorer, countless other accolades that he has achieved, and surely if he were to remain in the Premier League he would break Alan Shearer’s long-standing record for most Premier League goals.

But, crucially perhaps, what Kane does not have is a trophy for his cabinet. And frankly for a player that good, that fact has to change. Kane is fast approaching 30 and a hugely talented player deserves to have medals to look back on at the end of his career.

Can Tottenham really deliver that? The evidence throughout his prolific career so far is that they cannot. Bayern might not have been at the top of everyone’s list as potential destinations, but it should be a guarantee of domestic medals and head coach Thomas Tuchel has proven he can win the Champions League having done so at former club Chelsea.

Selling now is not really what Daniel Levy wants as Spurs embark upon a new era under manager Ange Postecoglou. But if they do not cash in then Kane likely leaves on a free next June.

Standard Sport reported on 24 July that owner Joe Lewis has told Levy he must sell if Kane will not commit his future to Spurs. It all points towards Levy having to make a decision he really does not want to.
