Harry Kane transfer: Arsenal ‘to sign’ ex-Tottenham star after £54m reveal
Paul Merson has claimed that Arsenal “will buy” Harry Kane, with the ex-Tottenham striker potentially on the move in 2026.
Kane, ever since his Tottenham departure, has been on fire in Germany with 25 goal contributions in just 18 Bundesliga appearances so far this season.
However, the Englishman has been mooted for a return to England with his release clause set to be reduced in 2026 [Christian Falk] and Merson has claimed that Arsenal will sign the striker who will see his release clause dropped to £54million.
Speaking via Sky Sports News (6 February), Merson said: “Arsenal will buy him. Why not? Sol Campbell did.
“If he’s available, for me it is [a bargain]. Arsenal need to take a chance. Buy someone who’s proven, I wouldn’t be surprised.”
Harry Kane to tarnish Tottenham reputation with Arsenal switch?
Quite frankly, it’s hard to see Kane join Arsenal for many, many reasons and perhaps the biggest one would be that it simply doesn’t make sense for his career.
He is setting the Bundesliga alight with a side likely to win trophies every single season, why would he leave to join Arsenal?
Not only that, but his strong affiliation with Tottenham will surely come into play as well. Would he really want to tarnish his reputation by making the move? It’s hard to imagine.

If anything, a move back to Tottenham would make far more sense but in reality, Kane is unlikely to move anywhere, anytime soon given the success he has found in Germany.
Merson can keep dreaming but unfortunately for him, it’s hard to see his wishes coming to fruition this time round.
