Graham Potter seals Tottenham coach agreement as Sweden appointment finalised

Tottenham have a talented crop of staff in addition to their players, which Graham Potter has clearly taken notice of.

Tottenham triumphed over West Ham during a period when Potter’s job was hanging in the balance.

The game was predicted to be a fiery one with Spurs’ Mohammed Kudus returning to the London Stadium after signing for the North London side over the summer.

However, it was goals galore for Tottenham, with the 3-0 defeat being the penultimate nail in the coffin for Potter.

Now, he’s started a new chapter beyond the Premier League with Sweden.

Andreas Georgson to join Graham Potter at Sweden

Andreas Georgson joined Thomas Frank over the summer as an assistant and set-piece specialist.

Potter was confirmed as the Swedish men’s national team’s new head coach on Monday morning after penning a short-term contract.

The former West Ham boss has now confirmed that Georgson will join him as part of his backroom team, according to The Standard on 20 October.

However, Georgson will not be leaving Tottenham and will combine his club and international duties.

This is similar to the approach taken by the Lilywhites’ first team coach Justin Cochrane, who is also a member of Thomas Tuchel’s England staff.

This will likely come as a relief for Frank, who will not want to lose a key staff member early into his tenure in North London.

Graham Potter’s appointment could benefit Lucas Bergvall

Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall became a bit of a laughing stock when he missed an open net during Sweden’s 2-2 draw to Switzerland last international break.

There was further outrage when Bergvall was substituted for Sweden at halftime in their 1-0 defeat to Kosovo in the same break.

The young midfielder has been excellent for Spurs, but Sweden’s unstable environment has prevented him from showing his best form for his national side.

It is hoped that Potter’s appointment will bring stability to this Sweden side, who are in danger of not qualifying for the FIFA World Cup. If he lives up to expectations, Bergvall could flourish under his leadership for years to come.
