Gibbs-White told to sue Nottingham Forest after ‘disgusting’ Tottenham saga
Tottenham may have thought they had Morgan Gibbs-White in the bag, but the proposed transfer has taken many twists and turns.
Spurs triggered a £60million release clause in the Nottingham Forest man’s contract, which set the wheels in motion.
Then, Gibbs-White was due for a medical in North London the following day, but events took a dramatic turn.
Forest sought legal advice against Tottenham, asserting they had approached the 26-year-old illegally without their permission.

Gibbs-White told to take legal action against Nottingham Forest
It has been reported that Forest are set to offer Gibbs-White a new contract amid their saga with Spurs.
Whether that will come to fruition is unknown, but it seems unlikely that the midfielder would want to do such a thing.
Interest in the Englishman is unsurprising, seeing as he has spearheaded the East Midlands outfit back up the Premier League and into Europe.
Last season, Gibbs-White notched 15 Premier League goal contributions, but his influence went far beyond that.
Morgan Gibbs-White’s 2024/25 Premier League statistics | Total |
Appearances | 34 |
Goals | 7 |
Expected goals (xG) | 6.34 |
Assists | 8 |
Expected assists (xA) | 4.69 |
Big chances created | 10 |
Now, former Spurs man Jamie O’Hara has given some stern advice for the 26-year-old, while speaking to Grosvenor Sport (17 July).
“Morgan Gibbs-White should go to the PFA, he should sue Nottingham Forest, and he should refuse to train,” he said.
“I think Forest are a disgrace, the way they have dealt with the situation is disgusting.
“Evangelos Marinakis has had an absolute stinker and his club are going to lose Morgan Gibbs-White for £60million because he’s done better than they expected and someone found out. It’s a disgrace.
“A player can tell who he wants about his contract, he’s earned it, and they were all happy to sign it at the time.
“Now suddenly it’s illegal, what on earth are they on about? It’s disgusting.”

Tottenham should wait out Gibbs-White situation
While it would be tempting to back away from a deal for the England international, he is worth the wait.
Of course, Forest and Marinakis have proved that they can be difficult to deal with after what happened with Gary Neville.
However, if Spurs have lawfully pursued the midfielder, then surely it is only a matter of time until Gibbs-White signs for Thomas Frank’s side.
The Forest captain has shown that he is more than capable of playing at the highest level and deserves Champions League football.
As it stands, he will be playing Europa League football next season, but there is a possibility that this will be revoked on Crystal Palace’s appeal.
Whatever happens, Tottenham should remain patient with Gibbs-White, unless the fiasco stretches out into late August.
