Gary Lineker mocks Postecoglou as MOTD show crazy Tottenham v Newcastle footage

Gary Lineker and Micah Richards were quick to make fun of Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham lost 2-1 to Newcastle on Saturday.

Spurs squandered an early lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to suffer their fifth Premier League defeat in their last seven games against the Magpies.

However, the game wasn’t without controversy with the ball striking Joelinton’s arm in the build-up to Anthony Gordon’s equaliser.

Postecoglou is a manager under pressure and that was clearly on show after the game when in his interview with Match of the Day, he kept repeating that if things were “even and balanced”, Spurs would have won.

After Postecoglou’s interview stop playing, Richards was seen giggling in the Match of the Day studio. Lineker asked him: “What do you think he means, Michael?”

Speaking on MOTD on Saturday night (4 January), Richards laughed: “I think he was trying to say things weren’t even and balanced.”

“I think you might have a point,” responded Lineker, which brought more laughs in the studio.

Postecoglou sack looms after latest Tottenham shocker

Let’s face it, Spurs haven’t been at the races for a long time now and it seems that the side’s appearance in the upcoming Carabao Cup semi-finals might be the only thing keeping Postecoglou in his job.

The man promised silverware this season and you’ve got to hold your hands up and admit that he is close to doing that.

However, what he didn’t promise was a completely abject Premier League campaign.

After losing to high-flying Newcastle, Tottenham are 12th in the standings with just seven wins from 20 games.

West Ham are one point behind them. Manchester United are two points behind them. Even Crystal Palace are three points behind and the North Londoners are only nine points away from the relegation zone.

Things have got to improve soon but Daniel Levy seems reluctant to pull the trigger on a manager who is clearly feeling the pressure – and that could be coming across to his players.

In other Tottenham news, Ian Wright was furious after what he saw in Spurs’ loss to the Magpies.
