Ex-Tottenham striker could replace Thomas Frank as sack latest revealed
Thomas Frank is living on borrowed time at Tottenham.
Frank is under intense scrutiny as Spurs sit 14th in the Premier League table after 22 matches.
Spurs have been awful at home this season, and after showing signs of promise on their travels in the early parts of the season, it has completely unravelled in N17.
West Ham’s 2-1 win over Tottenham saw fans boo Frank and demand that he be sacked, with the mood around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium becoming increasingly sour.
Xabi Alonso is among those linked with a move to Tottenham, but Jamie O’Hara believes they have to be realistic and appoint an interim head coach until the end of the season.
Jamie O’Hara insists Robbie Keane is the right man to replace Thomas Frank
O’Hara launched an explosive rant towards Frank after the defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and simply couldn’t believe how bad they’ve become under the Dane.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 17 January, the former Spurs midfielder tipped current Ferencvaros manager Robbie Keane to be the ideal candidate to lead the team forward for the rest of the campaign.
He said: “You go interim until the end of the season. I don’t know who…I’d like someone with an affiliation to Spurs, just until the end of the season.
“I’d have Keane in until the end of the season, but he won’t leave unless he’s getting a full-time job.”
| Stat | Keane |
| Games managed | 116 |
| Wins | 78 |
| Draws | 22 |
| Losses | 16 |
Keane is currently excelling at Hungarian side Ferencvaros and has them second in the league after 18 matches.
He started his career at Indian side ATK before moving to Maccabi Tel Aviv for the 2023-24 season and winning the title.
The 45-year-old then backed that up with another top-flight title win in May 2025 for the Hungarian outfit and has them sixth in the Europa League table too.
Having scored 112 times in a Tottenham shirt between 2002 and 2011, he would be the ideal man to take over the team for the remainder of the campaign.
Does Robbie Keane have what it takes to get the Tottenham job permanently?
On paper, of course, Keane hasn’t got the experience at the top level of being successful.
However, he understands exactly what is needed to keep the Spurs fans happy.
Frank‘s position is now untenable, and the supporters have never felt attached to the former Brentford manager.

They would have that affection towards Keane, and there would be less pressure on him to bring instant success if he joined temporarily.
It’s also undeniable that Keane would get more out of this squad than Frank currently does.
Whether he wishes to leave his steady job in Hungary for an unstable one in North London is a completely different question.
What’s clear is that Keane has the potential to be a top-class manager, and as we’ve seen with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, sometimes a former player is given more time at a club.
