Ex-Spurs Scout: Luton Town player ratings v Tottenham – ‘He annoyed me for what he did to Maddison’
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent six years as a senior scout at Spurs and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent eight years on Everton’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells.
Tottenham moved to the top of the Premier League with a 1-0 win at Luton Town on Saturday 7 October despite going down to 10 men just before half-time.
Yves Bissouma was shown a second yellow card for diving which saw Luton Town go into half-time level on the scoresheet and with a numerical advantage.
This would have filled the home end with optimism, but in the end, Spurs were able to clinch victory through a Micky van de Ven goal and a resilient performance in defence.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King watched on for Tottenham News and provided his player ratings for the home side.
Thomas Kaminski – 7/10
“He made two very good saves in the first half and kept them in the game. I thought he did alright overall, didn’t have much of a chance with the goal.”
Reece Burke – 6/10
Tom Lockyer – 6/10
Mads Andersen – 6/10
Alfie Doughty – 6/10
“In the first half an hour I don’t think any of the defenders knew where they were, they were all over the shop, because Tottenham were creating so many chances.”

Chiedozie Ogbene – 7/10
“He isn’t bad, he has a bit of pace and he had a good chance but a poor finish.”
Marvelous Nakamba – 6/10
Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu – 5/10
Jacob Brown – 6/10
Carlton Morris – 7/10
“I quite like him, he has a go and he works hard. He got a bang in the face but showed a bit of grit and carried on. He was a threat.”

Elijah Adebayo – 5/10
“He annoyed me. The way he went into James Maddison was poor, in fact, he made several poor challenges. I didn’t fancy him.”
Subsitutes
Teden Mengi – 6/10
“He had a great chance at the death and should have done better.”
Luke Berry – 5/10
“A Championship player who worked hard.”

Cauley Woodrow – 5/10
Tahith Chong – 5/10
Ross Barkley – N/A
