Dominic Solanke and Mathys Tel in Tottenham shootout vs Borussia Dortmund after UEFA latest
Thomas Frank is under huge pressure at Tottenham, and he now has to make a big decision ahead of their game against Borussia Dortmund.
Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by West Ham United on Saturday, with Callum Wilson’s last-minute winner leaving Frank’s future at Spurs in the balance.
The Dane looks set to stay on for the visit of Dortmund on Tuesday, in what is a crucial Champions League clash.
Spurs currently sit 11th in the group phase of the competition, just a single point off eighth, which would guarantee them a place in the last 16.
However, Frank will be forced to drop one of his first-team players for the night because of UEFA.
Frank to choose between Mathys Tel and Dominic Solanke
At the start of the season, Mathys Tel was left out of Tottenham’s Champions League squad, with Frank unable to find a spot for the French winger.
Spurs made use of a UEFA rule to register Tel for their 3-0 win over Slavia Prague back in December, with Dominic Solanke out injured.
However, with Solanke now back in and around the first team, Frank must decide whether to drop the former Bayern Munich man or leave the situation as it is.
The UEFA rule about replacing injured players was only in effect until the sixth game of the group phase, so Solanke cannot come in for one of his other Spurs teammates on the treatment table.
He can only switch back with Tel, meaning it is a straight shootout between the duo for who is included in the squad.
Who will Thomas Frank choose?
In ideal circumstances, Frank would want to be able to utilise both Tel and Solanke against Dortmund, as Tottenham look to try and finish in the top eight.
However, given that he can only pick one, the Dane will have to decide which of the two is more important.
Tel has shown glimpses of form over the past few weeks, but has only managed three Premier League goal contributions across the whole season.

Solanke is more than capable of making an impact, although it is unknown whether the centre-forward can last a full 90 minutes yet.
Frank will likely opt for Solanke, given the goal threat he brings, but it will be a bitter blow for Tel to be dropped again.
