Destiny Udogie injury: Return date given in new update on Tottenham star
Destiny Udogie could be in line to return from injury for Tottenham against Manchester United in mid-February, according to Paul O Keefe.
The Inside Foreword journalist posted on X (23 January) with an update on Udogie’s return from injury; having been absent with a hamstring issue since Spurs’ draw with Wolves on 29 December.
Udogie was expected to be out for between six and 10 weeks, but that has now been narrowed to seven, with three still to go and with Manchester United eyed as a potential return date on 16 February.
O Keefe wrote: “Little update on this. Told Destiny [Udogie] is on track to return in just over three weeks’ time so around seven weeks [in] total.
He later added in response to a Spurs fan [X, 23 January]: “Around the Manchester United fixture.”
Destiny Udogie injury update welcome at Tottenham
Udogie has been the umpteenth pillar to fall in the Lilywhites’ ongoing injury crisis, with Pedro Porro the only member of Ange Postecoglou’s first-choice back five not currently facing a spell on the sidelines.
With the soon-to-return Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero having both been out for lengthy periods, piling further defensive responsibility – and therefore pressure – onto Udogie’s shoulders at left-back.

That responsibility, coupled with Postecoglou’s high-octane style of play, is seen as a contributing factor towards the injuries of Udogie and other currently absent players, leaving Spurs wide open at the back.
Reinforcements in the winter transfer window are yet to come to much fruition in North London other than goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, with centre-half remaining the key position Spurs need to strengthen.
It’s unlikely that with Udogie’s return date on the horizon, and Ben Davies being back fit, they’ll pursue a left-back before 3 February, leaving the path clear for the Italian to reclaim his starting berth.
