Danny Murphy wowed by ‘Tremendous’ Son Heung-min footage in Tottenham win v Ipswich
Danny Murphy was left wowed by Son Heung-min after what he did for Tottenham’s second goal against Ipswich Town.
Tottenham came away 4-1 winners against the Tractor Boys on Saturday (22 February) with a well-deserved three points after showing what they could do going forward.
With three different names on the scoresheet and assists from another three different players, Ange Postecoglou will no doubt have felt pleased with what his team contributed.

Murphy picks out Son in Tottenham win
With Tottenham’s form being well below the expected levels this term, there has been criticism throughout the Lilywhites team of players who should be performing to higher levels.
One man who has been subjected to these criticisms is Son who has struggled to constantly perform to his best levels this term.
At 32-years-old, there has been speculation over whether he has reached a time in his career where his quality is dropping or whether it’s a reflection on the team he is playing in.
Season | Goals | Assists |
2024/25 | 6 | 9 |
2023/24 | 17 | 10 |
2022/23 | 10 | 6 |
2021/22 | 23 | 7 |
However, in his side’s 4-1 win he seemed to back to his best silencing some of his critics with assists for Tottenham’s first and second goal.
As a result, Murphy was full of praise for his work on Match of the Day (22 February) as he said: “Here. they’re [Ipswich] in a reasonably good position. But when there’s no pressure on the ball, Bentancur, you’ve got to drop, Godfrey’s got to drop. But he doesn’t and Son’s in.
“Now what compounds it again, top of your screen look, there’s Davis, Brennan Johnson sees him not looking. Holds his position beautifully, strokes it in with his weak foot. 2-0. Tremendous play from Tottenham.”

Tottenham looking a refreshed side
Given just how poor Tottenham have been throughout the season so far, there is still certainly plenty of work to be done in order to put minds at rest that the Lilywhites are on their way up.
However, with three wins in their last three Premier League games, it is certainly steps in the right direction and creates some momentum that can be used to build upon going forward.
Postecoglou has faced plenty of criticism and seen his job come under pressure at a number of points throughout the season so if he wants to convince supporters that he can take Tottenham forward, consistency in both results and performances will be key.
Furthermore, with the Europa League still at stake, the North London outfit needs to put their energy into bringing a trophy back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their supporters to enjoy.
Nevertheless, these seem to be steps int the right direction and if players like Son can deliver their best levels again, the Lilywhites could certainly be looking ahead to better days.
