Daniel Levy to avoid Tottenham ’embarrassment’ as Ryan Mason mooted as caretaker

Tottenham appointing Ryan Mason as their caretaker manager again would provoke criticism towards Daniel Levy, according to Matt Law.

The Telegraph journalist reported via the newspaper’s website (27 January) that Spurs are understanding of the injury crisis Ange Postecoglou is facing as pressure continues to mount on the manager.

He is also of the view that finishing a season with Mason as their caretaker manager for a third season would be “embarrassing” for the North London giants.

“The prospect of having to finish a third season with Ryan Mason in caretaker charge would be hugely embarrassing and provoke more criticism towards Levy”, Law wrote.

Daniel Levy to sack Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham?

With Tottenham sitting 15th in the Premier League after 23 games, it would be hard for Levy not to consider sacking Postecoglou.

However, as Law mentioned, Spurs are understanding of the Greek-Australian tactician’s situation as he navigates through a series of injuries that have seen several key players, including Dominic Solanke and Micky van de Ven, be sidelined.

Furthermore, the fact that the North London giants are still active in all three cup competitions they are participating in this season has also bought the former Celtic boss some time.

Letting a one-goal slip against Liverpool in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final at Anfield on 6 February, though, may change things for him.

Therefore, it remains to be seen if Postecoglou can turn things around at Spurs and secure his own future in North Lonon.

Levy, meanwhile, may already be drawing up a list of replacements for the 59-year-old.
