Daniel Levy scolded live on air as ‘Rubbish’ Tottenham claim made
Daniel Levy and Tottenham being praised for their activity late in the transfer window is “a load of old rubbish”, Jamie O’Hara has said.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (4 February, 10:12pm), O’Hara slammed the reports that Spurs had made a late bid for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi [Ed Aarons, 3 February], arguing that their supposed £70million offer “never even happened”.
The Lilywhites did complete last-gasp loan-to-buy deals for Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso, but O’Hara argued that Levy shouldn’t be let off for Spurs’ lack of incomings earlier in the transfer window.
He said: “Appearently they made a bid for Guehi – that’s a load of old rubbish. I guarantee you that never even happened.
“And to say ‘he’s been really active in the last few days of the transfer window’, well what about for the last 28 days, when Spurs are sat there – in an injury crisis – and he hasn’t signed anyone?
“We’ve just been watching the team go further and further down the table, so I don’t know – I think they’re covering up the cracks a little bit [with] the Mathys Tel signing.”
Daniel Levy leaves it late in transfer window at Tottenham
While three incomings across the winter transfer window – Antonin Kinsky early on, Danso and Tel – it’s hardly surprising to see criticism coming Levy’s way given the timing of the latter two arrivals.
Ange Postecoglou was crying out for defensive reinforcements even prior to January given the injury crisis he’s faced with at the back, yet Danso’s loan from Lens wasn’t sealed until 2 February.

Spurs were linked with several centre-backs throughout the window as Postecoglou’s side fell to pieces in defence, with the absences of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven hampering their progress.
That progress has been non-existent for much of the past few weeks as a result, with Sunday’s 2-0 victory at Brentford only their second win in the last 12 Premier League games, including eight defeats.
Adding centre-backs of Guehi’s quality is never easy in the mid-season transfer window, but Levy’s approach to adding reinforcements certainly won’t help to ease the barrage of criticism coming his way.
In other Tottenham news, Ange Postecoglou was revealed to have played a crucial role as Spurs sealed a last-ditch headline transfer.
