Daniel Levy gets Tottenham transfer done after jetting out of UK
Antonín Kinský’s agent Viktor Kolář has revealed Daniel Levy personally convinced the goalkeeper to join Tottenham.
Spurs signed Kinský from Slavia Prague in a deal worth about £12.5million [via BBC Sport, 5 January], a transfer which could spell the end for Guglielmo Vicario.
The 21-year-old made a big impression on his debut in the 1-0 Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg win over Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday (8 January).
And according to Kolář, if it wasn’t for Levy the shot-stopper might not have made the move to North London. Speaking exclusively to MF DNES [via SportsWitness, 10 January], the agent said, “Levy, the owner of Tottenham himself (convinced him).
“That same day (New Year’s Eve) he sent a message that he was flying to Prague on January 1. We met in our office in Pankrác. After three hours, it was agreed. I was so moved by how the father gave his son his blessing: Go ahead, I trust you. After the meeting, he was sure that the move was the right one.”
Antonín Kinský makes an instant impact at Tottenham?
Levy isn’t the most popular man in North London, with the Spurs chairman often criticised by fans. However, considering the way Kinský has settled in at Tottenham, the 62-year-old might have won a few people over.
The goalkeeper looks to be a shrewd signing, and while he was brought in to address the club’s injury crisis, based on the start the goalkeeper has made it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him become the number one.
And this is a signing which looks as though it wouldn’t have been possible without Levy. Therefore, it is fair to say that he deserves plenty of credit in this situation.
While it might not boost his popularity ratings entirely, it is certainly an example that when push comes to shove, the Spurs chairman is keen to do right by the club from a footballing perspective.

However, he has a lot more transfer deals to agree if he is to completely transform his reputation.
