Daniel Levy critics slammed as Tottenham told when to sack Ange Postecoglou
Simon Jordan has once again taken aim at Daniel Levy’s detractors at Tottenham.
Ange Postecoglou is a man under huge pressure at Tottenham as a wildly underwhelming season continued with defeats to Liverpool and Aston Villa to exit the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
But fans have also not been quiet about voicing their displeasure at the boardroom in recent weeks and protests were seen in the stands against Levy during the home defeat to Leicester City last month.
Outspoken talkSPORT host Jordan has defended Levy in the past and has once again aimed a dig at his critics when speaking about the right time sack Postecoglou.
Simon Jordan aims dig at Tottenham fans over Daniel Levy
Writing in the Daily Mail (13 February), page 73, Jordan opined that Postecoglou is paying the price for refusing to relent from his principles of playing out from the back and front-foot football even amid the injury crisis that has plagued his Tottenham squad this season.
He added that Postecoglou’s one chance to save his job at Tottenham will be to win the Europa League but believes that if Levy does pull the trigger there would still be those who are critical of the decision.
“Getting knocked out of cups by Liverpool and Aston Villa isn’t a sackable offence. But it’s dicey when you are also 16 points off the top four,” he wrote.
“He now needs to win the Europa League to keep his job. If he’s knocked out and finishes mid-table, you couldn’t really make a case for him not to be fired.
“Unless of course, you are in the ‘Everything is Daniel Levy’s fault’ gang. Ange might say he has adapted but he won’t compromise his belief system and what is the point of sticking to your principles if it means losing your job?”
Ange Postecoglou heading for inevitable Tottenham sack
There are, obviously, a lot of mitigating factors behind Spurs’ abysmal season.
Any side in the league would have struggled to contend with the injuries Tottenham have had this term, with their defence particularly decimated throughout the campaign.
The criticism that has often been aimed at Postecoglou at Tottenham is that he has been too stubborn in his beliefs and unwilling to find a way to make his team harder to beat with so many players unavailable.

His unrelenting belief in his principles is actually kind of admirable but it does feel increasingly like it will be the sword he eventually falls on at Spurs.
Winning the Europa League, which brings with it Champions League qualification, probably would be enough to earn a stay of execution but that possibility looks a huge challenge right now.
It does have a sense of inevitability right now, the question appears to be when Tottenham and Levy will eventually sack Postecoglou, not if. It is sure to be a hectic few months.
