Chris Sutton does not believe Tottenham will be relegated despite a shocking 3-2 defeat to Everton on Sunday afternoon.

Ange Postecoglou's side went three goals behind in a massively surprising first half, with goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Iliman Ndiaye being compounded by Archie Gray's only goal.

With Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison's late strikes not enough to claw back a draw at Goodison Park on 19 January, Spurs are now just eight points above the relegation zone, sitting 15th in the Premier League.

Speaking live via BBC Radio 5 Live [19 January, 6:48pm], a supporter said: "It used to be that clubs got sucked into a relegation battle and lately that hasn't happened as much but we are sinking like a stone on that table.

In response, Sutton said: "You're not going to be relegated. That's not going to happen."

Tottenham to suffer shock relegation after Everton defeat?

Being relegated down to the Championship is massively unlikely for the Lilywhite, especially with the attacking talent within the squad, but supporters certainly have reason to be worried.

Spurs are without victory in the Premier League in six matches, with a 5-0 win over Southampton only breaking the run up from back-to-back losses to Bournemouth and Chelsea, as well as a Fulham draw.

Daniel Levy has already been tipped to pull the trigger on Postecoglou's future, but with relegation odds at 50/1 for Spurs [Bet365], dropping down to the Championship should not be a realistic fear.

It should be seen as a crisis. Postecoglou could definitely lose his job, and there would be hardly anyone fighting his corner. 15th in the Premier League is absolutely horrendous.

While the Lilywhites have been plagued by injuries this term, with Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke all sidelined through injury, that cannot continue to be used as an excuse.
