Chris Sutton hits back at ‘absolute nonsense’ Postecoglou claims at Tottenham
Chris Sutton has leapt to Ange Postecoglou‘s defence as the Tottenham manager continues to come under crushing pressure at Hotspur Way.
Spurs were knocked out of the EFL Cup and FA Cup, by Liverpool and Aston Villa, respectively, crashing out of both competitions in the space of three days.
Postecoglou has only the Europa League title to fight for this season, with his team sitting 14th in the Premier League and much closer to the relegation zone than they are to the top of the table.
However, not everyone is keen to add to the pile-on.
Ange Postecoglou finally protected from Tottenham pressure
Having spoken out about an ‘agenda’ against him, Ian Ladyman said via the It’s All Kicking Off podcast [10 February]: “That’s nonsense, an absolute load of nonsense, to suggest there is an agenda against him.
“He’s said before that he thinks it might be because he’s Australian. I disagree with all of it.”
Chris Sutton replied: “There are parts of that you can’t disagree with – there is a pile-on at times. I’m just saying you can’t sit there with a straight face and say there hasn’t been a mockery of him.”
Daniel Levy must act before fan fury becomes too much
Supporters are becoming restless as Spurs continue to falter in domestic competitions, and their Europa League campaign is also not the most consistent of results.

Jeff Stelling has already suggested that the likes of Real Sociedad or Galatasaray will be too much for them in the knockout stages, losing to the latter earlier this season.
The main issue with sacking Postecoglou is who Daniel Levy would be able to convince to take the vacant job, and with the managers being linked, there would likely have to be a compensation fee.
Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, Fulham’s Marco Silva and Mauricio Pochettino of the USA national team are all currently at work, and Levy is unlikely to open his pockets for a new figure.
