Bodo/Glimt star shares how Cristian Romero mocked him after Tottenham win

Cristian Romero took a swipe at Bodo/Glimt defender Jostein Gundersen during Tottenham’s Europa League semi-final victory at the Aspmyra Stadion.

Tottenham booked a place in the Europa League final against Manchester United after a hard-fought victory against Bodo/Glimt.

Despite the two-goal win, Ange Postecoglou’s side had been warned of the artificial pitch at Bodo/Glimt’s home ground.

Postecoglou’s side proceeded with caution, and Romero, like most, was caught up in what a victory would truly mean for the North London club.

Romero hits back after Gundersen’s dig at Spurs

When asked about Tottenham’s defence before the return leg, the Norwegian responded that Postecoglou’s side was not the “best team” in the world defensively.

The reply sparked outrage among Spurs supporters, and word must have travelled back to the Tottenham camp.

According to Norwegian website VG Sport, Gundersen informed the press that the Spurs defender told him not to talk as much following their first goal.

That evening, Spurs became the first team not to concede away to Bodo/Glimt during the Europa League.

Romero will be important for the final

While the Argentine has been important for Spurs this season, several injuries have seen him play just 25 games.

The centre-back was vital in Tottenham’s success against Bodo/Glimt in the return, providing an assist during the match.

Romero was a brick wall for Spurs all evening in defence.

He made the most clearances (5) out of any Tottenham player, won all his tackles (2) and won 75 per cent of his ground duels.

The Spurs defender will have to put on a similar display against Manchester United to guarantee the win.

With the silverware on the line, Romero will be a deciding factor in the Lilywhites’ victory.
