Arsenal v Tottenham postponement latest after Met Office update

Arsenal versus Tottenham could be affected by mist but is unlikely to be postponed following the latest update from the Met Office.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are facing the short trip across London to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday (13 January) following their hard-fought FA Cup victory over Tamworth.

The Met Office reports that temperatures could rise to nine degrees just before kick-off, and while frost is not set to be a problem, cloudy overcast could turn into mist during the clash.

Fixtures across the UK have been affected by mist in recent weeks, with some games being delayed due to lack of visibility at ground level, but this is unlikely to lead to a postponement of the North London derby.

Arsenal versus Tottenham set to go ahead

It is unclear which team will be more nervous heading into the next North London derby.

The Gunners have just been knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United while Spurs just about made it through to the fourth round against National League side Tamworth.

However, with Ange Postecoglou’s job very much on the line right now, Mikel Arteta will want to spare his side and the fans the embarrassment of losing in their own backyard to the Lilywhites right now.

Spurs have not tasted victory in any of the last five meetings, losing four and drawing once, but the Gunners are totally out of form, unable to claim a win in their last three games.

Daniel Levy has been tipped to pull the trigger on Postecoglou’s reign in North London, and if the Lilywhites are embarrassed by their biggest rivals, it could be the end of the road for the Australian.

The manager will need a huge reaction from his star players, such as Son Heung-min, Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke, many of whom have been out of sorts in recent weeks.
