Arsenal told to sign Tamworth ‘superstar’ after what he did v Tottenham

Arsenal fans have urged their side to sign Tamworth star Tom Tonks after what happened in the FA Cup against Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou’s side travelled to the National League outfit in the FA Cup third round on Sunday (12 January), knowing a potential banana skin result could ultimately end his spell in North London.

The Spurs supporters were far from pleased as they had to wait until extra-time in Staffordshire for the breakthrough, as a Nathan Muya Tshikuna own goal and strikes courtesy of Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson secured passage to the fourth round in the 3-0 win.

Tottenham supporters want Arsenal to sign Tom Tonks

The Tamworth faithful relished the prospect of welcoming Premier League opposition and were in good spirits as Coventry-born James Maddison was subject to taunts upon arrival at The Lamb Ground.

However, as the National League side frustrated the visitors, Tonks stole the spotlight and blew away Ally McCoist with his “unbelievable” long throws.

Naturally, supporters wasted no time drawing an obvious parallel with Arsenal and urged the other North London outfit to sign the 33-year-old.

One supporter joked the “set-piece master” would increase Mikel Arteta’s title hopes, and another fan joked the Spaniard would add Tonks to his Arsenal ranks as “the final piece of the set-piece jigsaw”.

Tamworth would have no problems accepting either an £80million or £105m bid for Tonks, as some suggested, but unfortunately it’s 10 years too late for the midfielder.

Spurs needed extra-time to move past the National League side into the FA Cup fourth-round, but Tonks undoubtedly gave Postecoglou something to think about during the clash.
