Ange Postecoglou told he must do ‘something special’ to avoid Tottenham sack
Tottenham are set to make an official decision on the future of Ange Postecoglou before the season ends.
It has been a poor season by Spurs’ standards, with the team struggling to pick up consistent results in the Premier League while they were knocked out of both domestic cups.
Tottenham are currently sat 14th in the Premier League table, which has left fans with a growing sense of frustration and disappointment.
There have been question marks surrounding the long-term future of Postecoglou as Spurs boss, and the UEFA Europa League looks set to play a key role in deciding his fate.

Tottenham must perform in Europe
The Europa League is currently serving as Tottenham’s only method of winning any silverware this season, but more importantly, it’s their only route to European football next season.
The financial benefits that come from that, plus the importance it has in luring players to the club, cannot be overstated, which is why Daniel Levy made qualifying for Europe a key task for Postecoglou this season.
Fabrizio Romano recently revealed to GiveMeSport that a decision on Postecoglou’s future hasn’t been made yet because of the importance of the Europa League – and the fact that the route to the final looks achievable.
Europa League Rounds | Potential Opponents |
Quarter-Finals | Eintracht Frankfurt |
Semi-Finals | Bodo/Glimt or Lazio |
Final | Man United, Rangers, Lyon, or Atletico Bilbao |
Those at Spurs feel that there is a chance for something special to be achieved in that competition, and Postecoglou’s hopes of keeping his job are intrinsically linked to that.
If Tottenham are unable to win the Europa League, or showcase the best version of themselves until their elimination, then there is a high possibility that there will be a managerial change at Spurs during the summer months.

Daniel Levy is ready to take action
Throughout his tenure at the club, Levy has proven he has no problem firing managers when the results aren’t going as he would like, regardless of who is in charge.
That’s unlikely to change with Postecoglou, and after a dismal season so far, the pressure is at an all-time high.
Spurs will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals of the Europa League, with the first leg taking place on 10 April in London.
