Ange Postecoglou to ‘stay at Tottenham’ in huge twist, fans would love it

Ange Postecoglou’s future is set to be debated right to the very last whistle of Tottenham’s season even if they win the Europa League.

Postecoglou has had a difficult campaign, with Spurs slipping to 17th in the Premier League after the 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (11 May).

Despite Spurs’ poor league campaign, Postecoglou has dragged his side to their sixth European final after a semi-final victory against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.

Initially, Postecoglou was expected to depart regardless of reaching the final but it has been suggested that he may earn a reprieve with success in Europe’s secondary competition.

Postecoglou to stay if he wins Europa

The departure of Postecoglou this summer has always been on the cards, and despite Tottenham’s Europa League success, Spurs’ abysmal domestic form has been a sizeable stick to beat him with.

The reported appointment of Fabio Paratici is expected to bring a summer of change and, with it, a new hire.

However, former Nottingham Forest player Stan Collymore, now a prominent pundit, wrote on X that he can see Postecoglou staying.

He wrote: “I think if Ange wins the EL, he stays. Football is about the “law of now”, and if he’s giving it “mate” on the top of a bus leading up to the stadium, you’ll all be putty in his hands.”

Tottenham will regret letting Postecoglou leave

Football moves quickly and a victory in the Europa League final could change Postecoglou’s fate.

While it has been a season of ups and downs for Spurs, Daniel Levy should think twice before giving Postecoglou the sack.

The 59-year-old has not been dealt the best hand of cards, seeing several injuries throughout the season.

While the Australian’s high-intensity football has not helped in that department, even the best of coaches would struggle with numerous first-team players out for an extended period.

The fact that Tottenham have reached a major European final despite their injury woes provides a glimpse of the heights Postecoglou could reach if given the time and resources to make things happen.

Even if silverware is not possible this season, Postecoglou should be given more time to lead Spurs back to the top.
