Ange Postecoglou ‘to leave Tottenham’ after Daniel Levy verdict

Ange Postecoglou will eventually leave Tottenham, as calls grow for Daniel Levy to pack his bags from the supporters.

Levy is clearly unhappy as Spurs let slip away another opportunity to lift silverware after the 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa on Sunday in the FA Cup (9 February).

The North London outfit were knocked out of the Carabao Cup after losing 4-0 to Liverpool in the second leg of the semi-final on 6 February.

With questions already mounting around the Australian manager before the loss, fans directed their anger at Levy in the Midlands, with little success likely to follow.

Ange Postecoglou to leave Tottenham after Aston Villa loss

Postecoglou will eventually part ways with the Lilywhites despite fan protests directed towards Levy, Henry Winter says.

The World Soccer journalist believes the former Celtic boss will potentially be sacked and pay the price for the poor displays despite injuries.

Despite Levy’s unpopularity, Winter feels he has done good things at the North London outfit, like building the new stadium and training ground.

The journalist wrote on X (9 February): “Late goal not enough, Spurs most loyal fans want Levy out, their views been coming over loud and clear.

“Postecoglou will be the one who eventually goes. That’s what clubs do. The manager pays the price for poor results and performances and lack of progress. But the problem at Spurs lies far deeper than a stubborn, uninspiring manager who resembles a spectator on the touchline (who, in fairness, has horrendous injury problems to contend with).

“The problem even goes further back than an unpopular chairman who is detached from fans. Levy has done some good things, notably the stadium and training ground, but has failed to address the central problem — that predates him — and that is ensuring the recruitment of more and better players with a tougher mindset.

“Pretty but not winners. Spurs have to change their mentality as much as their head coach and chairman. It’s a problem of culture.”

Daniel Levy to take Ange Postecoglou sack decision

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Tottenham chairman fire Postecoglou after the defeat at Villa, with chances of silverware disappearing within days.

Unai Emery’s team have had their own issues this season, but nothing seemingly compares to the disappointment in N17 over the last few months.

Before the Liverpool and Villa losses, the Lilywhites had won just one of their last eight Premier League fixtures, with embarrassing defeats against the likes of Leicester and Everton.

Spurs look toothless up front as Son Heung-min has been a shadow of his former self, raising questions about what the future holds for him.

While the injuries haven’t helped Postecoglou, he needs to be getting better results to survive the sack.

The supporters won’t be shocked to see the Australian manager depart in the coming hours, but how Levy will handle the situation remains to be seen.

Now that the fans have turned against the Spurs chairman once again, big decisions may be taken to quell the noise.

While Tottenham takeover whispers continue to rumble in the background, fans will not be happy until that final confirmation comes that Levy and ENIC are out, and everyone can move forward together.

Whether Postecoglou will be there for that moment, currently looks unlikely.
