Ange Postecoglou sack: Tottenham face huge £9m setback
Tottenham hiring Thomas Frank to replace Ange Postecoglou looks unlikely amid their stance on his release clause, according to TBR Football.
Graeme Bailey reported for TBR on 28 January that Spurs are “unlikely” to pay out the £9million required to release Frank from his Brenftord contract, despite seeing him as a contender to replace Postecoglou.
Frank and Fulham’s Marco Silva are the two preferred choices of Spurs’ sporting director Johan Lange if Postecoglou is soon to be shown the door, but both having release clauses will complicate any pursuit.
Ange Postecoglou hanging on by a thread at Tottenham
Although Lange’s admiration of both Frank and Silva suggests that Spurs could soon be back on the managerial merry-go-round, Postecoglou remains at the helm in the wake of a horror run of form.
Daniel Levy and the Lilywhites’ have publicly backed the Australian up until now, despite Postecoglou’s side having won just once in their last 10 games and slipping to a lowly 15th in the Premier League table.

While Postecoglou is having to deal with a horrendous injury crisis in North London with an ill-equipped squad packed with youth and inexperience, his high-octane style of play is hardly aiding the situation.
With a makeshift rearguard featuring Pedro Porro as the only first-choice player of the backline currently fit, Postecoglou’s failure to compromise on his philosophy could well prove to be his undoing.
Frank and Silva taking the step from two London clubs currently above Spurs in the table would be watched with a keen eye, but their release clauses suggest that such pursuits will have to wait for now.
