Ange Postecoglou sack latest: Mauricio Pochettino twist, Ryan Mason disbelief

Ange Postecoglou is running out of time to save his job at Tottenham as new candidates emerge for the job.

Tottenham suffered their 15th Premier League defeat of the season on Sunday (16 March), losing 2-0 against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

This is the most number of games Spurs have lost in a single league campaign since the 2008-09 season, meaning many fans have lost patience with Postecoglou.

With nine more matches left to play, there is serious talk about the North London giants pulling the plug on the Greek-Australian manager during the international break.

Here, Tottenham News rounds up the latest news from Tuesday (18 March) relating to Postecoglou’s future.

Speaking on talkSPORT (17 March), the former Spurs boss said that he was rooting for the 57-year-old when he initially took the reins in North London.

However, he went on to admit that things have not worked out for the Premier League club under Postecoglou, who he thinks must now win the UEFA Europa League to save his job.

Ryan Mason has been mooted as an option to replace Postecoglou, especially if Spurs opt to hire an interim manager for the time being.

The former midfielder has the backing of many fans, with one such supporter putting the idea forward to Jamie O’Hara on talkSPORT (17 March).

However, Jamie O’Hara was in disbelief by the suggestion, dismissing the idea of Mason being Tottenham’s head coach immediately.

Postecoglou sack latest

Apart from Pochettino, Andoni Iraola and Thomas Frank have also been mooted as options to become Spurs’ next manager.

However, that will not be happening immediately as the English heavyweights have no plans to sack Postecoglou during the international break [Sun, 18 March].

The situation, though, could change if Tottenham crash out of the UEFA Europa League in the quarter-finals against Eintracht Frankfurt next month.
