Ange Postecoglou sack: Bent makes dismissal claim ahead of Tottenham v Newcastle
Darren Bent has urged supporters to stick by Ange Postecoglou even if Tottenham lose to Newcastle United on Saturday.
Spurs are set to welcome the Magpies to North London on 4 January, opening the weekend of Premier League at 12:30pm, and the visitors are odds-on to claim victory.
Postecoglou is under immense pressure from frustrated fans, with Daniel Levy being tipped to change the boss if angry voices continue at Hotspur Way, but Bent does not believe this would be a good decision.
Speaking live via talkSPORT [3 January, 4:22pm], he said: “I wouldn’t [sack Postecoglou]. I’d stick with him – what else would they do? It just feels, at the minute, that every easy answer is to sack the manager.
“At some point, you have to stick with him. If they don’t stick with Ange, where do they go next?”
Is Ange Postecoglou the right man to lead Tottenham to glory?
Bent does have a point. If Levy were to sack Postecoglou, who would be the best man to replace him? Spells with Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho were disastrous, which fans do not need to be reminded of.
While Mauricio Pochettino was a favoured figure in North London, Spurs were still unable to win any silverware despite coming close in the Champions League final against Liverpool in 2019.
The manager is currently experiencing an incredible injury crisis, with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies, Guglielmo Vicario and, now, Destiny Udogie on the sidelines.

Obviously, results have been awful in recent weeks, especially the recent losses to Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, compounded by the 2-2 draw with Wolves.
Fixtures do not get any easier for Spurs in the coming weeks, with Liverpool Arsenal and Hoffenheim on the horizon, but Postecoglou could be getting closer to being sacked if he cannot win any of these.
