Ange Postecoglou exit: This is when Tottenham will sack manager

Henry Winter believes that Ange Postecoglou still has some time on his side at Tottenham despite their recent FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa.

Tottenham have now crashed out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, with Postecoglou still somehow in a job despite those failures.

Every week it feels like Daniel Levy is presented with a new reason to sack the Australian, but for whatever reason, he opts against making that decision.

Tottenham are regressing to a new low after each game and the failure to act on that, is only going to see the situation worsen, but Postecogolou may have time on his side yet.

Ange Postecoglou sack timeline mooted

Despite losing their only real remaining chance of success, Postecoglou is still in post at Spurs and it seems like he will be allowed that opportunity going forward.

Given their league position and the fact that they have little chance of any success in this campaign, Levy may use that as the reason for holding back on any trigger being pulled.

Winter, speaking via talkSPORT (10 February, 7:15 am) said: “You can get rid of Postecoglou, he’ll probably last until the summer, they’ll make a change there. You could even change the chairman, although that’s highly unlikely.

“This is a cultural problem at the club, a lack of a winning mentality. But it’s a deeper problem than Postecoglou and Daniel Levy at Spurs.”

Tottenham’s season is all but over

Spurs have one meaningful competition left this season in the Europa League. However, when taking into account the performances that have been on show this campaign, any success through those means seems like a dream and nothing less.

Realistically, the season is over for Tottenham. If we’re being honest, it should also be over for Postecoglou who simply has to be sacked.

While the argument can be made for him retaining his job until the end of the campaign given the fact there is nothing left to revive, it’s a needless risk from Levy.

With players now finally starting to return from an injury, that could represent a fresh start on the pitch, which could be matched by the arrival of a new leader off it too.

If a new manager is brought in, Spurs can at least end the season with some dignity and players can start to adapt ahead of the new campaign.

Time will tell what is going to happen at Spurs, but things need to change as a matter of urgency, waiting till the summer may not be good enough.
