Ange Postecoglou ‘could be sacked’ by Tottenham in next 24 hours

Ange Postecoglou could potentially be sacked at Tottenham in the coming hours.

The Australian manager has had a hard time recently getting the best out of his squad, leading to questions about his future at the North London outfit.

Spurs were knocked out of the Carabao Cup after losing 4-0 to Liverpool in the second leg of the semi-final at Anfield on 6 February.

The Lilywhites are also currently 14th in the league table, and if things get worse, it wouldn’t be surprising if they were dragged into a Premier League relegation fight.

Tottenham could sack Ange Postecoglou after Aston Villa defeat

Daniel Levy may decide to fire Postecoglou if Spurs have an off day against Aston Villa, Neil Moxley says.

The Sunday People journalist believes the North London outfit could part ways with the former Celtic boss if they don’t perform well at Villa Park.

Unai Emery’s team will welcome the Lilywhites home on Sunday (9 February) as they look to continue their unbeaten run.

Moxley wrote in the Sunday People (9 February, page 48): “I never really understood the term ‘Ange-ball’ until this week. Now I’ve learnt it’s defined as losing games week after week and not having a direct shot on target. Emperor’s new clothes. Still, it could all be over for the Aussie if Spurs have an off day at Villa Park this afternoon.”

Daniel Levy to blame for Postecoglou struggles in N17

Levy needs to take a fair share of the blame for how bad Tottenham have been in the current campaign.

Spurs’ chairman took his time bolstering the squad in the winter transfer window despite the apparent need for reinforcements at the start of the year.

Kevin Danso was the only defender the North Londoners signed, with Mathys Tel joining on loan on Deadline Day.

For several weeks, the Australian head coach has had to rely on Archie Gray, Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies as his first-choice centre-backs.

It’s no surprise that the Lilywhites have struggled without Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

While Postecolgou deserves time and patience in the Spurs dugout, the fans can only endure so many negative results in a season.

There’s no guarantee another manager would be in a better position in N17, but the former Celtic boss needs to prove he’s the best manager to take the team forward.
