Ange Postecoglou ban: FA investigation mooted at Tottenham
Ange Postecoglou could face an FA probe and investigation for his comments after Tottenham Hotspur’s loss to Newcastle United, according to the Daily Mirror.
The newspaper reported in its print edition (6 January) that Postecoglou’s post-match comments on the game needing to be “equal”, concerned the fairness of his side’s 2-1 loss.
The FA are yet to officially launch an investigation, but will likely write to Postecoglou to clarify the Australian’s thoughts on the matter before deciding whether or not to take further action.
If the 59-year-old admits that he was referring to the officials, rather than Spurs’ ongoing injury crisis, Postecoglou can expect to find himself in “hot water” with a potential ban or fine mooted.
Ange Postecoglou investigation looks likely for Tottenham
While Postecoglou is receiving plenty of criticism for his bizarre post-match comments after Spurs’ Newcastle defeat, the Australian can be forgiven for thinking the universe is conspiring against them.
Having a backline almost completely wiped out by injury and puzzling refereeing decisions going against them was exacerbated by Saturday’s result, making it four games without a win, including three defeats.

Shipping goals at will with the likes of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero still out of action, the Australian’s high-octane style of play certainly isn’t helping Spurs not to be over-exposed at the back.
If Postecoglou’s complaints are with the officiating, they’re not entirely unfounded given some of the decisions against Newcastle, yet fines and bans are par for the course when it comes to such comments.
The Lilywhites’ form makes even grimmer reading for Postecoglou than any fan or fine the FA could slap him with, and it remains to be seen if the coming weeks will see any change in an upward direction.
In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou does have the arrival of a £15million “generational” talent to look forward to in North London.
