Alan Shearer predicts Fulham v Tottenham after what he saw in Europa League
Alan Shearer wants to see a clear winner when Tottenham lock horns with Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Sunday.
Spurs will be looking to build on their UEFA Europa League victory over AZ Alkmaar when they face London rivals Fulham on 16 March.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will also be determined to claim their first Premier League win in three games, having lost and drawn against Manchester City and Bournemouth in their previous two outings respectively.
Fulham, for their part, have set their sights on bouncing back from their 2-1 defeat against Brighton in the league last Saturday (8 March).

Shearer expects Fulham win v Tottenham
Tottenham are at a major disadvantage for their trip to Craven Cottage as they played an intense European game against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday (13 March), according to Shearer.
Fulham, on the other hand, have had enough time to rest and prepare for the match as they did not have a mid-week game.
Team | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goal Difference | Points |
10. Fulham | 28 | 11 | 9 | 8 | 3 | 42 |
13. Tottenham | 28 | 10 | 4 | 14 | 14 | 34 |
This is why Shearer has predicted that Marco Silva’s side will emerge victorious at home on Sunday.
“Spurs played in the Europa League on Thursday evening and it will have taken a lot out of them so I think it will be a home win for Fulham”, Shearer wrote in his column on the Betfair website (14 March).

Spurs ready for battle
It is hard to argue against Shearer as Tottenham had to battle hard to overturn a one-goal deficit from the first leg of their tie with Alkmaar.
Although Wilson Odobert and James Maddison put Spurs 2-1 in front on aggregate, they had to push hard for a winner after Peer Koopmeiners scored for the Dutch outfit on Thursday.
Odobert eventually netted the winner for Postecoglou’s side in the 74th minute, with the North London giants then hanging on to the one-goal lead for the remainder of the game.
It will not be a surprise if some of the Tottenham players are fatigued after Thursday’s game.
That would mean a few of them may not be able to give their best against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
