Alan Brazil shares ‘Stupid’ Tottenham verdict ahead of Liverpool EFL Cup clash

Alan Brazil has joked about Tottenham not having any centre-backs available to them for their Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool on Thursday.

Spurs are going into the game 1-0 up thanks to their victory over the Reds last time out and are aiming to complete the job at Anfield and make the final of the Carabao Cup.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (6 February, 07:51am), Brazil shared his thoughts on the clash and said that Ange Postecoglou’s men can’t allow a “stupid” early goal in the game.

“What they’ve got to do tonight, first 20 minutes, do not concede a stupid early goal,” Brazil said.

“They have got to keep it tight and make Liverpool work for it.”

Agbonlahor then replied: “They’ve got to keep it tight but can they learn from Newcastle last night and go to maybe three centre-halves, can you go to the five at the back.

“Can you pack out that midfield, can you just make it difficult, frustrate them.”

Brazil then said: “I don’t even think they’ve got three centre-halves.”

Tottenham need to stand their ground against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup

Tottenham have had it rough this season with their team often playing well below the level that was expected of them.

While injuries have likely had a lot to do with their poor performance this season, it still feels like they should have put in more of an effort across the season.

If Spurs end up leaving Anfield without booking themselves a place in the final, it’ll no doubt outrage fans due to where the North London outfit currently are in the Premier League.

Postecoglou needs to ensure that his team are up for the fight and that they can give 100 per cent to the tie.

Because, if they don’t manage to advance into the final, it’s hard to see how Daniel Levy could continue justifying the Australian’s role as Tottenham boss, despite the injuries he’s faced this term.

Only time will tell what the future holds but at the moment, with Micky van de Ven now ruled out, it’s not looking all that good for Tottenham.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs could be fearing the exit of Micky van de Ven after the latest transfer news that has emerged.
