Kulusevski injury blow revealed ahead of Tottenham Europa League final

Tottenham have been dealt another injury blow ahead of the UEFA Europa League final.

Ange Postecoglou’s side will contest the Europa League final against Manchester United at the Estadio de San Mamés on Wednesday, 21 May.

However, the Lilywhites will be without midfielders James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall.

And things have now gone from bad to worse for the North London club after what happened in the first half of the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (11 May).

Dejan Kulusevski forced off injured v Crystal Palace

Postecoglou made eight changes for the clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday (11 May).

Most of Spurs’ key players were rested, with Destiny Udogie nowhere to be seen, sparking injury fears among supporters. However, Kulusevski started in North London, and this decision appears to have come back to bite Postecoglou.

Midway through the first half on Sunday, Kulusevski was forced off with an injury and replaced by Mikey Moore, with Alasdair Gold writing via X (11 May), “Some worry over [Dejan] Kulusevski who took a big hit just 15 minutes in, potentially to his knee.

“He tried to run it off but wasn’t comfortable. [Mikey] Moore is coming on for him. The Swede goes straight down the tunnel.”

Spurs supporters face anxious wait over Kulusevski

Spurs’ clash with Manchester United in Spain will be the North London club’s biggest match in six years.

Therefore, Postecoglou needs his key players fit, and with Maddison and Bergvall already set to miss out, the 59-year-old cannot afford to lose any more players.

The injury to Kulusevski is particular damaging too, as the Swede is the player who is most likely to play the role Maddison would play against United.

If he misses out, Spurs will have a lack of creativity in midfield against United, which could prove costly. As a result, fans will be waiting anxiously for what will hopefully be a positive update on Kulusevski.

Hopefully for Postecoglou, it is nothing too serious. However, the fact that the 25-year-old went straight down the tunnel is unlikely to fill anyone with much encouragement.
