Tottenham fans throw flare onto Spurs pitch as video footage emerges

Tottenham got off to the perfect start in their Europa League final against Manchester United.

The success or failure of Spurs’ season is dependent on their result in Bilbao.

Ange Postecoglou is aiming to deliver Tottenham’s first trophy since 2008 after a difficult campaign in the Premier League.

However, their start at the San Mamés Stadium could not have gone better as Brennan Johnson edged Spurs in front, which caused chaotic scenes.

Tottenham fans throw flare onto Spurs’ pitch to celebrate Johnson’s opener in the Europa League final

After a lacklustre start to the first half, Tottenham sprang to life with just three minutes left to play.

Pape Sarr swung a cross into the box which was met by Johnson. The striker managed to get a nick on the ball which then hit Luke Shaw before it bobbled over the line to give Postecoglou’s side the lead before half-time.

Spurs fans were obviously ecstatic about the opener and went mental behind the goal as they edged closer to finally ending their trophy drought.

Celebrations also took place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where fans were able to watch the match.

However, a flare was then thrown onto the pitch, which had to be dealt with by stewards.

Journalist Ian Abrahams (21 May) recorded the incident as the celebrations took place.

Tottenham fans need to be careful not to ruin their night

While this could end up being a night to remember for Spurs fans, they need to be careful.

The last thing a supporter wants is to be removed from the stadium and have no place to watch the remaining minutes of the match.

Tensions are likely going to be high going into the second half, and if another goal is scored, fans cannot get too carried away, or it could spoil their night.

Hopefully, no more flares are thrown onto the pitch, or supporters risk consequences which no one wants to see on what has the potential to be such a day of celebration.
