‘Signing of the season’ – Joe Cole thinks Spurs have landed a game changer
Joe Cole was left in awe after Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Manchester City on Saturday.
Thomas Frank‘s side were comfortable winners at the Etihad Stadium on 23 August as their relentless pressing proved too much for the hosts.
Pep Guardiola was left reeling with the way that his City side conceded two easy first-half goals, and they could not bring it back.
Brennan Johnson and Joao Palhinha were the difference makers against Man City, but it was a different Tottenham Hotspur Stadium figure who earned all the praise after the match.

Joe Cole says Thomas Frank is Spurs’ best piece of business
Tottenham have brought in the likes of Mohamed Kudus and Palhinha this summer, but their best business may well be off the pitch.
Ange Postecoglou’s sacking was controversial, especially after he won their first trophy in 17 years with the Europa League win, but Frank looks to be an inspired appointment.
Former Chelsea star turned pundit Cole believes that Frank is the best addition of the summer after the victory against City.
Speaking after Spurs’ win on TNT Sports, he said: “Thomas Frank is the signing of the season.
“He’s going to calm it. He’s going to bring them together.”

Tottenham top of Premier League after two games
Frank will be in dreamland right now, his side sits at the top of the Premier League after the first two matches – albeit with plenty more sides still to play this weekend.
The rapid improvement from a 17th-place finish last season is a testament to the work that Frank has done this summer, both in and out of the transfer market.
Whether they can maintain it, remains to be seen, but it is an encouraging sign for the Lilywhites that their fortunes are changing in the right direction after years of misery in North London.
Premier League | Played | GD | Points |
1. Tottenham | 2 | +5 | 6 |
2. Chelsea | 2 | +4 | 4 |
3. Sunderland | 1 | +3 | 3 |
Cole may be correct, Frank may be the signing of the season, if his side can continue in this vein of form, he will certainly be a contender for that moniker.
It is far too early to be thinking about challenging the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal for the title, but their start has been very impressive under the ex-Brentford man.
If they can keep it up, there will be a belief that they can challenge at the top in the next few years.
