Tottenham star Yves Bissouma has sent Ange Postecoglou a reminder of how effective he can be.

Bissouma appears to have fallen out of favour at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, starting just two matches in the Premier League this season.

His 2024/25 campaign started in controversial style, as he was handed a club-imposed one-match suspension after a video emerged which appeared to show the midfielder inhaling laughing gas (via Sky Sports News, 15 August).

However, he still seems to have become something of a bit-part player, failing to start any of the club's past four Premier League matches, and coming off the bench in just two of them.

In addition, the 28-year-old has started both UEFA Europa League matches this season, further implying that Postecoglou sees the midfielder as part of the second team in North London.

Therefore, Bissouma will have been hoping that his club manager was watching his most recent performance for his country.

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma shines for Mali

Bissouma started and captained Mali to a 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso in an African Cup of Nations qualifying match at the Stade du 26 Mars on Friday (11 October).

As per Sofascore, the midfielder shone defensively, winning seven of his eight ground duels and 100 per cent of his aerial duels.

In addition, he looked smooth on the ball, succeeding with three of his four dribble attempts and winning four fouls for his side.

He also completed 76 per cent of his passes, with one of those key. There was still some room for improvement, with all five of Bissouma's crosses into the box inaccurate while he also gave possession away 22 times.

However, there was plenty to like about the Spurs man's performance. Therefore, if Postecoglou was watching, he likely would have been impressed.

As a result, when West Ham visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (19 October), Postecoglou could look to make some changes, with Bissouma putting himself in the frame for a potential recall.
