Jamie O'Hara believes playing out from the back "should be banned" at Tottenham after the 1-0 loss against Bournemouth.

The Lilywhites lost further ground in the race for the top four as a 17th-minute strike courtesy of Dean Huijsen was enough to secure the three points for Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday [5 December].

However, former Spurs player O'Hara made note of the visitor's defence in a rant on X [5 December] as he urged Ange Postecoglou to stop playing out from the back after the humiliating defeat on the South Coast.

He said: "Our playing out from the back should be banned it’s a joke."

Tottenham need to become more adaptable in the Premier League

As per Sofascore, the Tottenham defence lost possession of the ball 47 times at the Vitality Stadium as they played right into Bournemouth's hands.

While the usual game plan could have worked on the night had Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero been on the pitch, however, they were not, and Postecoglou is paying the price for his stubbornness.

Furthermore, the defensive crisis at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is set to worsen as Ben Davies was forcibly removed in the 62nd-minute for a suspected hamstring injury.

Tottenham are becoming the biggest mystery in the Premier League - how can a side go from thrashing Manchester City 4-0 in their own backyard to drawing 1-1 with Fulham and then losing 1-0 at Bournemouth?

Postecogolou is into his second season in North London; if he still cannot adapt his game plan to suit the opponent, he may never, which is a serious cause of concern for Daniel Levy.

With high-flying Chelsea up next at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday [8 December], the tenth-placed side could slip as low as thirteenth place with another loss in typical Spurs fashion.
