Andy Madley will be the referee in charge of Tottenham Hotspur's clash with Coventry City.

The 43-year-old began his refereeing career in Wakefield in local games, before becoming an assistant referee in the EFL in 2008.

Huddersfield-born, Madley then progressed to refereeing in the Conference (now National League) in 2009.

After spending a couple of years as a Premier League assistant referee, he had the whistle for matches in the EFL between 2011 to 2019.

He's been taking charge of Premier League games since 2019, and is also a FIFA-listed referee.

Now his latest appointment has been confirmed, and it sees the Yorkshireman suit up for Tottenham against Coventry next Monday.

How many Tottenham games has Andy Madley refereed?

The Premier League have announced that Madley will be the referee in N17 on Monday night.

His assistants will be Nick Hopton and Craig Taylor, the fourth official is Tom Bramall, VAR is Paul Tierney and assistant VAR is Steven Meredith.

As detailed via Transfermarkt, Madley has been in the middle for 13 Tottenham games during his refereeing career.

Of those 13 matches, Spurs have won six, lost six and drawn once, revealing a fairly even split of results.

However, the superstitious Lilywhites supporter won't be thrilled to see his appointment for Coventry, as the club are on a dismal run of form with him.

Of the last six Tottenham games he's refereed in all competitions, Spurs have won just once against Doncaster in the Carabao Cup in September last year.

Aside from that, Tottenham have lost the other four and drawn once, with back-to-back 3-1 defeats to Crystal Palace and Liverpool the most recent results.

But, why does a different history book paint a far better picture for Tottenham's chances of a win with Madley this time round?

What is Tottenham's head-to-head record vs Coventry?

Given this year is Coventry's first season in the Premier League since 2000-01, Tottenham have rarely faced off against the Sky Blues recently.

The last four meetings have all been in cup competitions, with their last top-flight game coming on 3 March 2001.

Spurs won that game, as they have mostly done when they've played City over the last couple of decades.

Tottenham have played Coventry 11 times in all competitions since 1998, with Spurs only losing one of those in October 2000.

Seven of the last eight matches have ended in victory for the Lilywhites, who currently have a five-game winning run to protect against Coventry on Monday.

The most recent meeting between the two came in September 2024, when Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson scored in a 2-1 Carabao Cup win at the CBS Arena.
