Walker-Peters closes in on brand-new transfer after Tottenham news
Tottenham academy graduate Kyle Walker-Peters left Southampton after five years with the club.
The versatile defender left Tottenham for a reported £12million to sign for the Saints in August 2020, going on to make 202 appearances for the South coast side.
Last season, he played in five different positions, including across the back and as a winger, but ultimately failed to help Southampton avoid relegation.
Now a free agent, Walker-Peters is looking for his next challenge and has been linked with a return to his boyhood club.
Beşiktaş in talks with Walker-Peters
Tottenham are keen to add a full-back to their ranks this summer, as they only have three recognised wide defenders in Pedro Porro, Destiny Udogie, and Djed Spence.
Spurs have explored bringing Walker-Peters back to N17 to increase the number of club-trained players in their squad in line with the UEFA Champions League quota.

However, they may have to explore other options, as Fabrizio Romano has reported (11 July) that Beşiktaş are confident of signing the 28-year-old soon.
This will be a blow for Spurs, who will be looking for a cut-price deal on a squad player after spending lavishly on Mohammed Kudus.
Following this development, Spurs may push for a move for Dennis Cirkin instead, who has progressed at Sunderland since leaving the North Londoners in August 2021.
Spurs could look within for full-back position
Thomas Frank has a challenging task ahead of him to work out which of Tottenham's numerous young defenders he wishes to keep at the club.
The arrival of Kōta Takai means that the Dane has four centre-backs at the club under the age of 21, with a further five senior central defenders ahead of them.
There is no doubt that some of those younger players will leave on loan, but Frank could also look to convert one or two of them to full-backs, as he did successfully with Kristoffer Ajer at Brentford.
The likes of Luka Vušković and Takai have both previously played in wider positions and could be experimented with to fill the gap at full-back, potentially avoiding Spurs' need to spend on yet another defender.
