Tyrese Hall has not developed as he would have liked at Tottenham this season.

Ange Postecoglou has handed plenty of young players first-team opportunities this term, with a contract having been offered to one of the most exciting youth prospects in the country.

However, while many of his teammates, and even players younger than him, have been handed such opportunities, Hall is yet to feature in a first-team squad this season and has been urged to leave on loan as a result.

This is quite baffling considering the 19-year-old was a prominent part of Postecoglou's pre-season preparations at Tottenham in the summer.

Many would have expected Hall to push on this season and at the very least feature in a few matchday squads, even if he weren't to make it onto the pitch. However, that has not been the case.

Therefore, the midfielder would have no doubt been weighing up his options ahead of January, and after what happened on Wednesday [18 December], it feels as though he is likely to have made his mind up.

Tyrese Hall to seek Tottenham loan exit in January?

Spurs' Under-21s were beaten 5-1 by Ajax's Under-21s in the Premier League International Cup at the Lamex Stadium on Wednesday night.

It was a second 5-1 defeat in as many games for Wayne Burnett's side after they lost by the same scoreline against Brighton at the Amex Elite Football Performance Centre in Premier League 2 on Saturday [14 December].

Hall played the full 90 minutes in both matches. However, his inclusion in the defeat to Ajax was particularly baffling. Heading into the Premier League International Cup clash, Spurs were already eliminated from the competition after two defeats from two.

As a result, Burnett named a much-changed side, with plenty of Under-18s players handed opportunities. However, Hall was still included, in what the youngster would have felt to be a relatively meaningless game.

Therefore, he is likely to be frustrated by his continued lack of development and progression this season. There could perhaps be some behind-the-scenes issues, or maybe Postecoglou hasn't been impressed by what he has seen.

However, whatever it is, it feels as though a loan exit in January is the best move for Hall, especially after yet another heavy defeat in what was the Under-21s' final fixture of 2024.
