Bryan King has urged Tottenham to complete an "exciting" signing which will give supporters a lift.

The ex-Spurs scout claims the North London side do not have a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League.

As reported by reliable Spurs insider Paul O Keefe via X (2 July), Neto is back under consideration after the club had previously edged away from him.

However, King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - isn't sure the Portugal international is a player who is needed.

"They are quite well-stocked in wide areas," King said.

"Brennan Johnson was signed for big money, Dejan Kulusevski is there and they of course have Son Heung-min also.

"Therefore, they don't need a wide player, but perhaps they want to make an exciting signing. I still think that signing should be in the number nine position.

"They do need that marquee signing to get supporters excited because, at the moment, supporters aren't excited.

"The price of everything is going up at the club, and fans need a boost to see that the club mean business. Tottenham in their present state will not challenge for the Premier League."

Could Tottenham sign Pedro Neto from Wolves?

Neto would certainly fall into the category of an exciting transfer.

He is a proven Premier League player who gets supporters off their feet when he plays. He has demonstrated his quality and would have the potential to improve under Ange Postecoglou.

However, a big-money winger is perhaps not a priority in North London.

That money would be better spent on a centre-forward or midfielder, two positions which are in more desperate need of an upgrade.
