Tottenham will target reinforcements in the centre-back and forward areas during the January transfer window, according to The Athletic's Charlie Eccleshare.

Writing via an online Tottenham Q&A (2 November), Eccleshare was asked about Spurs' plans for the upcoming January transfer window.

He detailed that as well as a centre-back, a left-sided forward or central striker is likely to be targeted. Once the picture becomes clearer, a final decision will be made by Ange Postecoglou and Johan Lange.

In addition, a replacement will be sought should either Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg or Giovani Lo Celso leave the club.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King told Tottenham News:

"I would have thought a wide player would be the priority. I feel like this report is stating the obvious, every club will be shopping in these positions.

"For me, Spurs should be looking to get rid of certain players and bring fresh faces in, but you have got to be bringing in the quality of Son Heung-min, Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven, and that won't be cheap.

"If Spurs are going to bring in players in those positions, those players have got to be prepared to play the waiting game. They are not going to walk straight into the team unless they're a big-money signing who fits into the formation and style Postecoglou wants to play.
