John Wenham has suggested Tottenham could consider selling Fraser Forster after the goalkeeper missed out on the club's pre-season tour.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes another goalkeeper at the club could establish themselves as a backup to Guglielmo Vicario.

Tottenham confirmed via their official website (22 July) that Forster had missed out on the pre-season tour of Asia as he continues his rehabilitation from a fractured foot back at Hotspur Way.

And Wenham - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - has speculated that the 36-year-old's long-term future could lie elsewhere.

“Forster has missed out on the pre-season tour,” Wenham said.

“I just wonder, if Brandon Austin or another goalkeeper establishes himself on this tour if Tottenham consider moving Forster on.

“He was hardly available last season, and he is coming toward the end of his career now. However, he does count as a homegrown, so we will need to wait and see on that one.

“Perhaps if Austin or someone stands out in pre-season then Forster will just move down the pecking order and become third-choice.”

Tottenham to consider selling Fraser Forster?

Considering his age and contract length, Spurs are unlikely to get much of a fee for Forster.

However, letting the shot-stopper go could free up some wages.

Tottenham recently confirmed via their official website (28 May) that Austin had put pen to paper on a new five-year deal in North London.

And if he impresses Ange Postecoglou during pre-season, there is every chance that the 25-year-old could find himself as a backup to Vicario, which would see Forster become surplus to requirements.
