Pedro Porro's trajectory for club and country continues to rise after the Tottenham right-back's performance for Spain against Denmark.

Winning his sixth international cap in La Roja's 2-1 UEFA Nations League victory on 15 November, Porro played a full 90 minutes against a Denmark side captained by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Porro focused attention on the task at hand in North London when asked about his future this week [El Desmarque, 13 November], and the 25-year-old's display will leave Ange Posteocglou overjoyed after a tough few weeks for Spurs defenders.

Pedro Porro performance will cause delight at Tottenham

Starting at right-back and helping Spain to score early in each half before Denmark pulled a consolation goal back late on, Porro's performance up and down the flank was reminiscent of his displays for Spurs.

Creating two chances from 51 passes – at a completion rate of 89 per cent [SofaScore] – Porro managed to compile 0.34 expected assists in total and made six of those forward balls into the final third.

While he didn't take a touch in the box despite having 79 in total, Porro's role as a distributor from deep was on full display, completing 80 per cent of his 10 long balls to pick out teammates in space.

That's not to say Porro wasn't also called into action at the back, as he put in a whopping 14 defensive interactions in total [FotMob], recovering the ball on 13 occasions despite also committing three fouls.

Winning three tackles at a rate of 60 per cent success, Porro made four clearances in total – two of which were in the air – as Denmark cranked up the pressure, making a further two interceptions.

Porro took part in a further 10 on-the-ball duels, winning five of nine on the ground to keep the hosts at bay, and with La Roja sitting pretty at the top of their Nations League group, Postecoglou's main hope will now be that his first-choice right-back returns home safe.
