Tottenham star Dominic Solanke blasted after 'shocking' defeat v Brighton

Bryan King was unimpressed by Dominic Solanke's display as Tottenham lost 3-2 to Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Sunday (6 October).

The ex-Spurs scout doesn't believe the striker's display backed up Lee Carsley's decision to include him in the England squad.

Spurs were leading 2-0 at half-time only for Brighton to score three goals in the second half and complete a memorable comeback.

And King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - couldn't believe what he saw after half-time.

“It was a very poor performance in the second half after such a bright start,” King said.

“They were shocking, defensively they were a mess. The whole team fell apart. 



“As for Solanke, can you tell me that his display in that game warrants an England call-up? An awful lot of money for a centre-forward who you don’t see.”

Solanke's goalscoring run came to an end against the Seagulls. In the first half, he had moments, holding up the ball well and bringing others into the game.

However, during the second half, he was nowhere to be seen. Therefore, Postecoglou will be hoping to see a lot more from his big-money signing.

While the 27-year-old shouldn't be expected to score in every game, he could have done much more to relieve pressure and help Spurs manage the game.

For now, he will turn his attention toward England, and Postecoglou will no doubt be watching on nervously.
