Tottenham sources issue update on Richarlison transfer to Saudi Arabia

Richarlison's future appears to lie away from Tottenham, and Daniel Levy will be keen to recoup as much money as possible.

Tottenham still have a chance to end a miserable season on a high by winning the UEFA Europa League.

The Lilywhites hold a 3-1 lead heading into the second leg of their semi-final against Bodø/Glimt at the Aspmyra Stadion on Thursday (8 May).

However, whatever happens between now and the end of the season, Ange Postecoglou is expected to leave Tottenham, and Richarlison will likely follow the Australian out the exit door.

Richarlison move to Saudi Arabia in doubt

Tottenham want to sell Richarlison and are keen to recoup around £30million for the striker [The Boy Hotspur].

The Brazilian was previously linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, which might have proven financially rewarding for Tottenham. However, Jack Pitt-Brooke isn't sure that will be on the cards this summer.

Richarlison's time with Tottenham has been a disappointment

While speaking on The View From The Lane (5 May), the Spurs correspondent for The Athletic said, "With Richarlison, I can see why he wanted to stay, but from a Tottenham perspective, it would be better if they’d sold him to a Saudi Arabian club last summer.

"I don’t know if that offer will be on the table this summer, but that will have a big bearing on Spurs’ business."

Richarlison will only have two years left on his contract in North London at the end of the season, and is extremely unlikely to be offered a new deal. Therefore, the forward must be moved on this summer.

However, Levy is going to have to stomach the fact that he will need to accept a loss on Richarlison.

The longer Tottenham wait to sell the Brazilian, the more his value will decrease, especially if they allow him to enter the last year of his contract. As a result, an agreement over Richarlison's exit needs to be reached this summer, and ideally as soon as possible after the transfer window opens.

A bid from Saudi Arabia would, of course, be much welcomed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, with doubts over whether that bid is going to be made, Spurs might need to accept a cut-price offer from a club in Europe.
