Tottenham will not be pleased with how some of their summer decisions have panned out.

At the time, many claimed that the Lilywhites had one of their best summers in years.

Tottenham signed Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, becoming the first player to move between the two clubs since Scot Parker in 2011. Meanwhile, Joao Palhinha has been excellent since signing on loan from Bayern Munich.

Spurs acquired Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig for just over £50million, which was considered a steal and while fans have not seen much from Randal Kolo Muani, there is still hope he thrives in North London.

However, among a whole lot of hits, there have been several huge misses.

Jamie Donley and Ashley Phillips’ Stoke City loan criticised

Tottenham loaned Ashley Phillips to Stoke City over the summer after an impressive loan spell the season before.

Jamie Donley followed the young defender in a move that Spurs would have believed was a well-thought-out one. However, both have struggled for minutes since arriving.

  • Donley has played just 40 minutes in the league for Stoke
  • Phillips has played 60 minutes in the Championship this season

As a result, Tottenham expert Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – Spurs are annoyed with Phillips and Donley's loan moves thus far.

“There is a real frustration with Stoke at the moment, with Donley and Phillips just not getting on at all,” Wenham said.

“It's difficult because until last Saturday, Stoke had been winning every week, so the manager isn't changing the winning side, but now they’ve lost to QPR, I'm hopeful the manager will make some changes.

“But when Donley and Phillips come into the lineup, they're going to have to play really, really well in order to keep the shirt and stay in the team.”

Mikey Moore’s loan is another one Tottenham will be disappointed with

Tottenham loaned Moore to Rangers over the summer in the hope of continuing his development.

However, Rangers have had a shocking start to the Scottish Premiership and currently sit eighth on the table.

As such, Moore has played 170 minutes over four matches and has struggled to find his best form due to the rocky environment.

The winger was one of Spurs’ most promising youngsters last season, and given the circumstances, there is no doubt the North London club will already be considering recalling him in January or loaning him out to a club with a more stable environment.
