Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement with AC Milan for the signing of Fikayo Tomori, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian journalist reported via his personal X account [31 January] that the agreed deal for the English centre-back is worth £20.9million, with an added £4.2million in bonuses.

It is understood that Spurs now await Tomori's decision on the potential move to North London, and given Mathys Tel's recent transfer decision, supporters will be holding their breath.

"AC Milan have reached a verbal agreement with Tottenham for Fikayo Tomori. The deal is worth £20.9million plus £4.2million in bonuses, just awaiting the player's decision."

Fikayo Tomoro transfer surely just hours away at Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou will be absolutely desperate to add a new defender to his ranks before the winter transfer window slams shut on 3 February.

With Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero sidelined for the past few weeks, albeit the former has returned recently, the manager has been struggling to secure victories in the Premier League.

Archie Gray and Radu Dragusin have formed an unlikely partnership in the centre of defence, but with the latter now picking up a new injury, Postecoglou is running out of options.

When he is finally given some positive news, bad news smacks him in the face. Postecoglou described it as seeing light at the end of the tunnel, which turns out to be an oncoming train.

It's tough not to feel sympathetic for him as the team continues to struggle.

A £20million+ deal for Tomori, who has experience in the Premier League, Serie A, Champions League and international stage, could be the answer he's been looking for over the past couple of months.

Daniel Levy cannot afford to let this deal slip through his fingers if the Lilywhites are to battle their way back up the Premier League table.
