Daniel Levy has agreed a deal for one unwanted striker to leave Tottenham on loan.

Levy has been criticised by supporters for Spurs' slow start to the transfer window.

Scoring goals wasn't necessarily a problem for the Lilywhites last season, with the North London club netting 64 times in the Premier League. However, Thomas Frank has still been keen to add an attacking player to his ranks.

And the need for a new forward is now even greater with one player set to leave Tottenham.

Tottenham reach agreement with Rosario Central for Alejo Véliz

As reported by Football London on Tuesday (8 July), Alejo Véliz is set to leave Spurs on loan and return to his former club Rosario Central.

It is understood that the agreement is a straight loan which does not include a purchase option or obligation. However, there is an option for Tottenham to recall the striker in January.

Véliz was back at pre-season training with Frank, but he is not part of the Spurs boss' plans for the upcoming season.

Véliz returns to Argentina after making just eight appearances for Tottenham.

With Tanguy Ndombele and soon-to-be Richarlison already stains on his record, there is no doubt that Levy will be disappointed to see Véliz depart in what is another transfer failure for Tottenham.

Tottenham must sign a striker this summer

With Richarlison expected to leave Hotspur Way this summer, and Véliz with one foot out the door, Dominic Solanke should not be expected to hold down the fort alone.

The former Bournemouth striker had a decent first season at Tottenham. In 45 appearances, he put up 24 goal contributions, a total which could skyrocket under Frank.

However, this does not mean that Tottenham do not need to sign a striker, and while they have been linked to several players, nothing is advanced. With pre-season approaching and the Dane ready to assess his squad, there is a sense that Spurs must sign their striker in time for the tour.

Therefore, with ambitions to win the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, Tottenham must strengthen their squad this summer.
