Tottenham are now odds-on favourites to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich before the 3 February transfer deadline.

Spurs are now 2/5 front-runners to sign the 19-year-old ahead of the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal who come in at 5/2 and 10/1 respectively [Odds Checker, 31 January].

These odds have been slashed from 13/8 [Bet365, 30 January] after the latest update from Fabrizio Romano via X on 31 January.

The transfer specialist reported that the Lilywhites have presented their project to the France Under-21 international and his agent with game time a key factor.

A meeting has also been held with the Bundesliga giants to guarantee a £50.1million fee if the forward opts to accept a deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou's side are in need of a forward option before the end of the winter window and it appears that Tel is the most likely option to come in.

This could represent a real coup for Spurs given the profile and potential of the 19-year-old who bagged 16 goal involvements for Bayern last season.

It is a boost to see the odds slashed in North London which could point towards a deal for the Frenchman edging ever closer.

With just days remaining of the window, it will be interesting to see how talks with Tel progress and if the Lilywhites can push this move over the line.
