Tottenham’s defence was the bane of their 2024/25 campaign, and Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite could be the key component in rectifying that.

Spurs conceded 65 Premier League goals throughout the season, the second-most outside of the bottom three.

Therefore, it is obvious that new defenders are needed this summer to quickly vanquish this issue.

Now, Daniel Levy has the perfect bargaining tool to get the deal over the line.

Tottenham must swap Richarlison for Branthwaite this summer

The Brazilian striker has a combined total of 20 goals at the London club since he left the Toffees.

Richarlison has often been slammed for his performances at Spurs as he fails to provide a consistent goal threat.

As a result, Everton have been linked with Richarlison as a means to end his awful stay in London.

Now, Tottenham could use this to their advantage. Daniel Levy should look to offer the Brazilian in exchange for Branthwaite.

While additional cash will likely be needed to get the transfer over the line, it would be a genius move by Spurs.

In one swoop, the London club would be fixing their defensive issues while also getting rid of a flop.

If Spurs can acquire Branthwaite, it would be a massive boost and should help Tottenham return to the top of the Premier League.

Spurs need to get rid of their flops this summer

The 2024/25 campaign exposed how many players Tottenham have who are simply not good enough.

Stars such as Radu Dragusin and Richarlison will not take Spurs back into the top four and must be sold this summer.

By doing this, not only will it free up wages, but also send a message to the rest of the squad that sub-par performances will not be tolerated.

Hopefully, Levy takes this more ruthless approach to the team in order to fix Spurs’ ongoing issues on the pitch.
